How to Make a Beautiful Bridal Shower Umbrella

Every bride-to-be gets excited when she is the guest ofBridal Shower Umbrella honor at her bridal shower.

Decorating for the shower can be lots of fun. One of my favorite things to make is the bridal shower umbrella. It requires no sewing...just some creativity, time, lace, flowers and a hot glue gun.

  • Inexpensive umbrella
  • 60-70 yards of 2" gathered lace
  • White silk flowers
  • 5 yards of wired ribbon

I began gluing the lace at the edge of the umbrella and worked my way in layering the lace over the previous layer. One thing I learned when hot gluing the lace, do not make one long bead of glue and place the lace on it.  It becomes too stiff and you won't be able to close the umbrella. Instead, put dots of glue approximately 2-3 inches apart.  That will give the umbrella more flexibility and it will close.

Once I got to the center, I hot glued large and small white flowers to create the romantic look.  To match the color scheme of the bridal party, I used 2 inch wide ribbon in the bride's color and looped and tucked it under the flowers.

It took about two days to put the umbrella together, but it came out so beautiful. With just changing the ribbon, I can use this umbrella for any bridal shower.
